Kitty Pi

Two posts in two days!! Can you believe it? I'm setting into the new apartment with the kitties. It's not as nice as the other apartment, but we're managing. Except, well, my cats are in heat. Both. AT THE SAME TIME! What's getting me through this rough time is the knowledge that they will be getting their uteri (what is the plural of uterus anyway?!) out on March 10. Obviously, Einstein can't wait.

I've decided to knit them kitty pi's to sleep in post-anesthesia. This is my first experience felting. I finished up the first kitty pi at my friend Abi's place. I thought I'd wait until they both were finished, but I couldn't wait to felt!

Here's Kitty Pi #1 drying on one of my new pots. :) It's much more hairy than I expected. You can even see a little hairball on the left!

Kitty Pi #2 is well on its way to being done. I'm almost at the part where you decrease. I'll probably be felting this during the week, maybe even on my birthday (Wednesday!).

The kitty pi pattern can be found at Wendy Knits.

We Have HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!

Oh my dear, I thought the day would never come! Finally I have high speed internet. :) Perusing Bloglines was so S-L-O-W with dialup.

Anyhoo, on to the knitting content!

One of my projects during the time I was away was knitting up a pair of Speed Demon Sock Yarn in the Slayer colorway. I just love winding yarn using the swift and ball winder.

Einstein likes to "help" as well. She likes to watch the free end of the skein as it goes around...and around...

I finished these socks in about 3 days. I cast on 52 stitches on size 5 needles. Knit from the cuff down using Knitty's Socks 101.

Anyone seen my wooden stake??

Regularly Scheduled Posting Will Resume Shortly

I'm moved into the new place, just unpacking to be done. I'm getting my own high speed internet installed on the 24th (woot!) so regular posting should resume around then. Lots of project updates! And I'll have to get cracking on my Sockpaloooza socks soon!

Thanks everyone for words of support and encouragement. Each day gets a little easier.

My Last Night

It's my last night in my old apartment. It's 2:05 in the morning, and despite the fact that I moved all my stuff today, I can't sleep. My heart is so broken, that right now, I can't imagine a time when I'll be happy again.

This old apartment was filled with so much hope. I really thought that I would be marrying the man that I was moving in with. I'm filled with so much anger, so much hurt. Part of me wants to beg him to stay in this, beg him to love me. But I'm not going to do that. One reason why...

He's throwing away the best thing that ever happened to him.

I would have loved him unconditionally, I would have birthed his children. I would have put up with everything that goes along with his family, because I know that he'd have to put up with mine. I would have been the supportive wife, the "perfect" wife. I would have even learned how to cook. :)

But I'm not going to change who I am anymore for him.

I will find the man I'm meant to marry. A man who loves me for me. A man who doesn't make me feel bad about needing to lose weight all the time. A man that doesn't talk down to me when I say something stupid. A man that when he says he'll try to make it work, he'll actually TRY.

I am STRONG. I will survive this, and leave him with my dignity intact.

And I will knit like hell through this. :)
