I'm a 29 year old RN who works in an ICU in Seattle.
The original uploader has that photo intruigingly mislabelled. It's actually the ruins of the temple to Castor and Pollux, and significantly predates Caligula; moreover, there were no palaces in the fora proper, only temples and public buildings of various kinds. It's a particularly interesting mix-up because this particular temple is so famous; it's often used as a symbol of the Roman forum and some say that Mussolini's design for his grand roadway through (over!) the fora was directly influenced by his desire for those columns to be unmistakeable for anyone driving down it. I have to assume the photographer/uploader was either scammed on a tour or got some photos mixed up! Either way, a great choice for Eye Candy Friday, it really took me back to the joys of living in Rome.
By whatever name it has, it is a striking photo!
